In search of the big apple
As I said in my last post, I have an ambition to work over in New York, well after researching into it and getting some advice of a tutor I have come across the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE).
From what I gather the CIEE help students and graduates to work abroad. After researching I have found that the most relevant program for me would be Professional Career Training USA.
This program allows me to train anywheere in the US for up to 18 months in a field that is related to my career or professional qualifications. I can apply any time of the year. On completing my training, the program would allow me an additional 30 days to explore the US with the money that I have earned.
To be eligible for the program I must
- Be between 20 and 40 years (yes)
- Hold A-levels or equivalent (yes)
- Have a university degree, or have completed a professional certificate or and apprenticeship of at lest 2 years (fingers crossed will soon have a degree)
- Have fluent spoken and written English skill (yes)
- Be based in the UK (yes)
So I only have to make sure I get my degree, then I will tick all boxes. I now have the fun task of finding a placement in the USA. I have contacted the UK representatives, istplus.com. I have asked for some advice for contacting the companies I want to work for as I thing this may take me some time!
well I download the form from the UK representatives website, istplus.com. The form is a pretty lengthy to fill in
